School Council

Shaftesbury High School has an active School Council that meets at least once a month. The Council meetings are split into Key Stage meetings for KS3, KS4 and KS5. There are representatives from all year groups on School Council.

School Council Representatives are:

  • good listeners
  • committed
  • honest
  • reliable
  • able to work as a team
  • want to make changes
  • have good ideas

The Agenda for each meeting is created from issues that Senior Management and Staff want to be raised. In addition students can raise any issues concerning them. Agendas are distributed to each class group for discussion before the meeting.

In the last academic term the School Council is discussing issues related to future building work at the school as well as fundraising opportunities and what charities the school should support.

The School Council has links to Harrow Youth Parliament with many ex-students having served as representatives.
